The Administrative Access Scheme allows UniSQ current and former students and employees (or a third party in certain situations) to access their own personal information without the need for a formal application under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) ('RTI Act') or the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) ('IP Act').
Anyone can apply for information, however there is no guarantee that access will be given.Typically, the following types of requests can be managed under the Administrative Access Scheme:
- An individual's own personal information
- Routine study or employment-related documents and information contained in an applicant's student or staff file
- Documents that are publicly available
- Requests for personal information from third parties representing staff or students
The following types of information will not usually be released administratively:
- Another person's personal information
- Documents and information relating to complaints, appeals and/or misconduct matters
- Documents that are sensitive in nature (e.g. confidential reports)
- Documents that can be accessed by other means - for example, UniSQ Graduates from 2017 onwards can access copies of their digital academic records (including academic transcripts, testamur and Australian Higher Education Graduation Statements) through My eQuals.
An applicant will need to make a formal request under the IP Act or RTI Act to request copies of these types of documents.
