Graduart

5 November – 6 December 2024
Curated by: Dr Rhiannan Johnson and Brodie Taylor

This much anticipated, annual exhibition showcases the cumulative ideas and creative works generated by the graduating cohort of 2024.  Whether at an undergraduate or postgraduate level, each of our graduating students has undergone a period of immense discovery, and growth in a time of constant change and societal flux.

As visual artists, and creative individuals broadly, we assume the roles of observers, innovators, storytellers, critics, advocates, instigators, and questioners.  Through visual language and artistic inquiry, visual artists are uniquely positioned to interrogate both past and contemporary ideas and communicate in a way that is outside of written or spoken language, that engages and connects people.

Working with a range of traditional and experimental techniques grounded in Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Sculpture, Ceramics, Video Art, Photography, and mixed media practice, our artists have staged dialogues about individual and collective identity, place, culture and society, human experience, and memory.

Collectively, the artists in this exhibition give voice to what it means to exist in this time and place, and in doing so, they can create a new lens through which we can share and experience this.
