How to respond to an academic misconduct allegation

Before you start:
  1. Check the date when you need to respond by
  2. Read the Student Academic Misconduct Procedure
  3. Understand the potential penalties you are facing
  4. Decide if you need to admit to the allegation or provide material that explains your side of the story 
  5. Decide if you provide a written response or attend an interview with someone from your School, such as the School Academic Integrity Lead
  1. Consider what happened and outline how you completed your assessment item
  2. Can you explain any errors and discrepancies in the evidence provided to you?
  3. Were there extenuating circumstances that led to the behaviour that forms the basis of the allegation?
  4. Are there any other possible explanations?
