A person's hand applying blue nail polish to one fingernail against a blue background. Text reads, "POLISHED MAN".
This October, UniSQ is participating in the Polished Man campaign! Polished Man is a global movement that encourages everyone to paint one fingernail to raise awareness and funds to end violence against women and children. Each painted nail represents the one in five children who suffer physical and/or sexual violence before the age of 18 and, the at least one woman a week who loses her life to violence from a current or former partner.

Everyone should have the chance to live a happy, healthy and safe life. Painting a nail is about starting to have those difficult conversations, to raise awareness and bring the issue to light so that no woman or child has to live with violence.

How to Participate

  • Paint One Nail: Pick any colour and paint one fingernail for the month of October.
  • Share Your Support: Post a photo of your painted nail on social media with the hashtag #PolishedMan and tag our university.
  • Donate: Visit the Polished Man website to make a donation or start your own fundraising page.
  • Spread the Word: Encourage your friends, classmates, and family to join the campaign.
  • Upcoming Events: Each campus will have a Polished Man table at their iConnect station where you can learn more about this issue and paint a nail. These tables will also be staffed each Wednesday from 12-1pm with a member of our Wellbeing Team.

Let’s unite to make a difference and show our support for this important cause. For more information, check out polishedman.com or contact UniSQ Safer Communities.

We all have a role to play in ending violence: Thanks for your support!
