University of Southern Queensland remains at the forefront of teacher upskilling and education with its newest resource for practicing teachers.
The podcast Licence to Learn will launch across podcasting providers this month.
The first season dissects the subject of History, including the latest in history pedagogy research and its potential applications in the classroom.
Dr Alison Bedford said the podcast was an excellent professional learning tool that showcased the university’s continued dedication to supporting teachers once they transitioned into the classroom.
“One of the biggest challenges for teachers is keeping up with professional reading and current pedagogical research, especially with the continuing intensification of teacher workload,” she said.
“We have designed this podcast to be enjoyed on the drive or commute to work, and give teachers a 'licence to learn'.
“Teachers can expect to hear about current research in specific subject areas which they can apply in their classroom practise.”
The podcast stands out from other education podcasts by giving students an opportunity to flex their industry readiness.
Undergraduate and postgraduate students will host the podcast each week, sharing learnings from curriculum and pedagogy.
Dr Bedford urged teachers across the country to listen to the podcast across their preferred app.
“Our short episodes might provide the spark to try something new in class,” she said.
University of Southern Queensland is dedicated to helping new teachers thrive in the industry through its research and education delivery.
