The University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) has continued its strong performance in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025, with eight subjects recognised among the world’s best.

The result marks a significant improvement, with three more subjects ranked than in 2024. Among the newcomers are Economics and Econometrics (551-700), Computer Science and Information Systems (751-850), Medicine (701-850), and Material Science (351-400).

The University’s long-standing strengths in agriculture and environmental science remain a standout, with Agriculture and Forestry and Environmental Science each maintaining their position in the 301-350 and 351-400 bands respectively.

Engineering at UniSQ continues to go from strength to strength, with Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering moving up a band to be ranked 401-450 globally.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Karen Nelson said the latest rankings reflected UniSQ’s ongoing commitment to high-quality education and impactful research.

“These ranking outcomes are recognition of the exceptional work of our staff and our focus on delivering world-class education and research in areas that matter to our communities,” Professor Nelson said.

“Our results demonstrate the strength of our university, particularly across the University’s flagships – areas that are critically important in addressing the challenges facing our regions and industries.”

The QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluate more than 1,500 universities across 55 narrow and five broad subject areas, using indicators such as academic reputation, employer reputation, and research impact
