Destination Australia Scholarship (Domestic)

In Trimester 1 2025, UniSQ will offer one Destination Australia Scholarship (Domestic), to support a domestic student commencing full-time on-campus studies in an eligible program at UniSQ Toowoomba.

Destination Australia is a scholarship program funded by the Australian Government Department of Education to support students to study in regional Australia. 

The scholarship will have a maximum value of $7500 to be paid in one instalment.

Applicants must:

  • be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
  • commence an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program* at UniSQ in Trimester 1 2025:
    • as a new student to UniSQ, or
    • as a UniSQ graduate commencing a higher-level program
  • intend to enrol full-time, on-campus at UniSQ Toowoomba
  • reside or intend to reside in Toowoomba or surrounding regional areas (classified as 'regional' under the Australian Statistical Geographic Standard Remoteness Areas (2016) – Health Workforce Locator map).

*Eligible programs are those offered at the UniSQ Toowoomba campus and align with the Australian Government's Occupation Shortage List.

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (200 words per question):
    • what influenced and motivated you to choose your study program at UniSQ
    • how do you see yourself as a future professional within your field
    • why are you interested in studying in a regional area in Australia
  • provide evidence of past academic achievement as directed in the application process
  • provide proof of residence as directed in the application process. 

**Priority will be given to applicants from underrepresented groups in tertiary education, including those who are:

  • first in family to attend university
  • First Nations people
  • living with a disability
  • from a low-socioeconomic background (low-SES)
  • from a culturally and linguistically diverse background.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.

Application must be made via the UniSQ Scholarships Online Application Management System.
