PhD Scholarship: Evaluating Psychosocial Programs to Improve the Health of People Born with Innate Variations of Sex Characteristics

This scholarship is designed to support a full-time, domestic student in completing a Doctor of Philosophy by publication at The University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ). This scholarship is part of a larger program of research funded by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) titled: ‘Improving the physical and mental health of people born with innate variations of sex characteristics (IVSC; the Program)’.

The vision of the program is to co-design and develop integrated, person-centred models of care to improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of people with IVSCs (also known as intersex variations, differences of sex development or a number of individual diagnostic terms), as well as their families, including those with intersectional disadvantage. In this role the candidate will be contributing to Work Package 1 - The development and evaluation of the national community-controlled InterLink psychosocial support service.

The specific PhD research project focus will be developed with the applicant and their prospective supervisors based on the applicant’s interests, methodological strengths, gaps in the literature, and the needs of the project.

  • Stipend of AUD $35,000, including UniSQ ‘top-up’.
  • Maximum period of tenure of an award is 3.5 years. Periods of study already undertaken towards the degree will be deducted from the period of tenure.
