In 2025, UniSQ will offer four Greenwood-Tomkys Scholarship in Health and eight Greenwood-Tomkys Scholarship in Nursing to support students commencing their studies in a program, as listed. 

The Greenwood-Tomkys Fund was established through the Estate of the late Betty Greenwood and in conjunction with her sister, the late Valery Tomkys. Betty and Valery together with their sister Lesley are the daughters of Jack and Mary Tomkys and were long term Toowoomba residents who also had farming interests at Murphy’s Creek. The fund was created in memory of the Tomkys family and Betty’s husband Jim.

The principal purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships, bursaries and other educational assistance for students of nursing and other allied health professions and disciplines. Assistance is provided to students in financial need to undertake their studies.

Each scholarship will have a maximum value of $24 000 to be paid over three years.

Reopened for further applications, ONLY for those commencing the Bachelor of Nursing.

Applicants must:

  • be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
  • be a commencing student
  • be intending to enrol full-time at UniSQ in a health-related program in Study Period 1 2025 (e.g., Trimester 1 2025), as listed:
    • Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Medicine Pathway)
    • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours)
    • Bachelor of Paramedicine
    • Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)
    • Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)
    • Bachelor of Social Work
    • Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours)
    • Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science
    • Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology (Honours)
    • Bachelor of Nursing.

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):
    • what influenced and motivated you to choose your intended study program at UniSQ
    • how do you see yourself as a future professional within your field
  • provide evidence of academic achievement as directed in the application process:
    • final year school report card or post-secondary academic history (transcript of results) 
  • provide evidence of your current financial circumstances.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.

Application must be made via the UniSQ Scholarships Online Application Management System.
