Ipswich RSL Scholarship

In 2025, UniSQ will offer one Ipswich RSL Scholarship to support a student continuing their studies in a health-related program, as listed.

The Ipswich sub-branch of the RSL has initiated this award to encourage higher education study in the areas of nursing, health and wellbeing in recognition of the pivotal role played by professionals in these fields for the provision of primary health care to wounded military victims of military conflict.

The scholarship will have a maximum value of $10 000 to be paid over two years.

Applicants must:

  • be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
  • be a resident of the Ipswich City Council Local Government Area
  • be continuing their studies full-time at UniSQ in Study Period 1 2025 (e.g., Trimester 1 2025), in one of the following programs:
    • Bachelor of Nursing
    • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours)
    • Bachelor of Paramedicine
    • Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)
    • Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)
  • have, as at the release of results for Study Period 2 2024 (e.g., Trimester 2 2024):
    • a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 13 study units completed and credited towards their current program
    • a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.0
  • be a current or former Australian Defence Force (ADF) member; or be able to demonstrate a primary family (grandparent, parent, sibling, child or grandchild) relationship to a current or former ADF member.

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):
    • reflecting on your studies to date, how will you make the most of your remaining studies at UniSQ
    • how do you see yourself as a future professional within your field
    • what is your connection with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) services and reflect on what this means to you
  • provide evidence to show you are a resident of the Ipswich City Council Local Government Area (refer LGA directory), as directed in the application process
  • provide evidence to demonstrate your connection, or your primary family's relationship to a current or former ADF member as directed in the application process.

* Applications will also be assessed on academic achievement.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
