John Cole Scholarship

In 2025, UniSQ will offer one John Cole Scholarship to support a student continuing their studies in a bachelor's degree program.

Established in 2022 from donations from many donors, this award recognises Professor John Cole AO’s long and celebrated career.

The award supports a student from Professor Cole’s home region of the South Burnett with their continuing studies.

The scholarship will have a maximum value of $1000 to be paid in one instalment. 

Applicants must:

  • be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
  • have a connection to one of the following Local Government Areas:
    • South Burnett Regional Council, or
    • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council  
  • be continuing their studies full-time at UniSQ in a bachelor's degree program in Study Period 1 2025 (e.g., Trimester 1 2025)
  • have, as at the release of results for Study Period 2 2024 (e.g., Trimester 2 2024):
    • a minimum of 4 study units completed and credited towards their current program
    • a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.0.

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):
    • reflecting on your studies to date, how will you make the most of your remaining studies at UniSQ
    • how do you see yourself as a future professional within your field
  • provide evidence to show you have a connection to the South Burnett Regional Council, or Cherbourg Aboriginal Sire Council Local Government Area (refer LGA directory), as directed in the application process
  • provide evidence of your current financial circumstances.

*Applicants will also be assessed on academic achievement.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
