John Ross Clancy Indigenous Student Bursary

In 2025, UniSQ will offer one John Ross Clancy Indigenous Student Bursary to support an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student commencing their studies in a bachelor's degree program.

The late John Ross Clancy was an advocate for Australian Indigenous affairs, and generously bequeathed funds to UniSQ to advance Australian Indigenous higher education. While John Ross Clancy had many achievements, both he and his wife, Lydia, were active in initiating the Black Women's Action group in the 1970s.

The bursary will have a maximum value of $2000 to be paid in one instalment.

Applicants must:

  • be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
  • be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person of Australia
  • be a commencing student
  • be intending to enrol at UniSQ in a bachelor's degree program in Study Period 1 2025 (e.g., Trimester 1 2025).

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):        
    • what influenced and motivated you to choose your intended study program at UniSQ
    • how do you see yourself as a future professional within your field
  • provide evidence you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person of Australia
  • provide evidence of academic achievement as directed in the application process: 
    • final year school report card or post-secondary academic history (transcript of results)
  • provide evidence of your current financial circumstances.

*Applicants will also be assessed on academic achievement.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
