Joseph Duke Memorial Bursary

In 2025, UniSQ will offer one Joseph Duke Memorial Bursary to support a student continuing their studies in a bachelor's degree with a music major.

This bursary is dedicated to the short life of a very talented young musician, Joseph Duke, and is awarded to a student undertaking a major in music.

The bursary will have a maximum value of $4000 to be paid in one instalment.

Applicants must:

  • be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
  • be continuing their studies full-time at UniSQ in a bachelor's degree with a music major in Study Period 1 2025 (e.g., Trimester 1 2025)
  • have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.0 as at the release of results for Study Period 2 2024 (e.g., Trimester 2 2024).

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):        
    • reflecting on your studies to date, how will you make the most of your remaining studies at UniSQ
    • how do you see yourself as a future professional within your field
    • how has your development as an individual been influenced by your community involvement (e.g., community service at school or volunteer role in sporting/cultural group, leadership roles or through other extracurricular activities)
  • provide evidence to support claims made within your personal statement regarding community involvement (e.g., community or school newsletter articles, certificates)
  • provide evidence of your current financial circumstances.

*Applicants will also be assessed on academic achievement.

 

**Extra consideration will be given to students who can provide evidence to show they have a permanent address in, or have relocated to study from a small rural or remote area (MM5 - MM7) within Australia according to the Modified Monash Model 2019.

 

Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
