Mackenzie Family First Nations HDR Scholarship

The Mackenzie Family First Nations HDR Scholarship is offering a scholarship award for a First Nations domestic students studying, or commencing the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2024. Applications in all areas of research are welcome. This scholarship was established in 2022 through a gift from the Mackenzie Family. It is supported by an endowment fund with the wider goal of encouraging the development of First Nations HDR students through ongoing support for their research studies.

Application for entry into the program is a separate process that must be started to be eligible for the scholarship. Application steps can be found here.

 
• Stipend of AUD $6,000 as a single annual allowance only.

To be eligible applicants must:   

  • have completed a Bachelor Degree with First Class Honours, or equivalent level;  
  • have applied, or currently enrolled in the PhD at UniSQ;
  • be a First Nations Australian citizen 
  • commence or continue study in 2024.
 

Applicants will be ranked on the basis of:

  • A demonstrated relationality to Country through engagement with identified First Nations communities, organisations and community led initiatives and/or programs.
  • Academic achievement and the potential for scholastic success; and
  • Any other matters the Selection Committee considers to be relevant to the applicant’s future research development.

  • Statement of Project Relation to Country, demonstrating relationality to Country through engagement with identified First Nations communities and organisations;
  • Confirmation of Heritage documentation;
  • Preliminary Research Thesis Topic Proposal (DOC 53KB);
  • Education qualifications (testamur and academic transcripts for all undergraduate and postgraduate awards);
  • List of any research presentations and/or publications
  • Documentation confirming citizenship.
