Regional Leaders Scholarship

In 2025, UniSQ will offer one Regional Leaders Scholarship to support a student commencing their studies in a bachelor’s degree program.

Supported by the annual returns of an endowment fund built up by donors to the University since the early 2000s, this special scholarship aims for the highest levels of support for promising regional leaders.

The scholarship will have a maximum value of $30 000 to be paid over three years as a contribution to UniSQ Residential College fees.

Applicants must:

  • be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
  • be from a regional, rural or remote area of Australia
  • have completed Year 12 in 2023 or 2024
  • be a new student
  • be intending to enrol full-time at UniSQ in a bachelor’s degree program in Study Period 1 2025 (e.g., Trimester 1 2025)
  • be intending to reside at one of the UniSQ Residential Colleges, Toowoomba campus
  • be intending to enrol in on-campus mode (unless the program/study units are not offered on-campus).

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):
    • what influenced and motivated you to choose your intended study program at UniSQ and how do you see yourself as a future professional within your field
    • what are your prior leadership experiences and how do they influence your future leadership aspirations
    • what influenced your decision to live at residential college and how do you see yourself adding to the college life/experience
  • provide evidence to show you have a permanent residential address in or have relocated to study from a regional, rural or remote area (MM2 - MM7) within Australia according to the Modified Monash Model 2019
  • provide evidence to support claims made within your personal statement regarding your prior leadership roles within your school or local community
  • provide evidence of academic achievement as directed in the application process:
    • high school report card or post-secondary academic history (transcript of results), e.g., school, TAFE etc.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together (e.g., applicants cannot hold both this scholarship and an Academic Excellence Scholarship together).

Application must be made via the UniSQ Scholarships Online Application Management System.
