Thelander Family Scholarship

This scholarship will not open for application in 2025.

In 2023, UniSQ will offer one Thelander Family Scholarship to support a student commencing their studies in the Bachelor of Theatre, or Bachelor of Visual Arts.

As friends of the UniSQ and supporters of the performing and visual arts, the Thelander family has set up a scholarship to help future UniSQ students in the pursuit of their academic endeavours. This scholarship will be awarded to a performing or visual art undergraduate.

The scholarship will have a maximum value of $12 000 paid over three years.

Applicants must:

  • be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or permanent humanitarian visa holder
  • be commencing their studies at UniSQ in the Bachelor of Theatre, or Bachelor of Visual Arts in Study Period 1 2023 (e.g., Semester 1 2023)
  • be enrolled in a minimum of 6 study units across each academic year, for the duration of the scholarship as follows: 
    • minimum 3 study units in Study Period 1 (e.g., Semester 1); and 
    • minimum 3 study units across the remaining study periods (e.g., Semesters 2 and 3
  • be enrolled on-campus at UniSQ Toowoomba.

As this is a commencing student scholarship, applicants are not required to have accepted/be enrolled at UniSQ at time of application.

Applicants must:

  • submit a personal statement (500 words maximum) outlining:
    • what influenced and motivated you to choose your intended study program at UniSQ
    • how do you see yourself as a future professional within your field.
    • your involvement (past and current) within your school, school arts program, extracurricular activities or within your local community.
  • provide evidence to support claims made in your personal statement of your involvement within your school, school arts program, extracurricular activities or within your local community.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.

Application must be made via the UniSQ Scholarships Online Application Management System.
