UniSQ Incarcerated Student Learning Resource Scheme

In 2026, UniSQ will offer the UniSQ Incarcerated Student Learning Resource Scheme to support incarcerated students who are commencing or continuing an undergraduate program at UniSQ, by assisting them with the purchase of required texts.

The funding provided for this aims to ensure that Australians from low SES backgrounds, regional and remote areas of Australia and Indigenous student who have the ability to study at university the opportunity to do so. It allows universities to undertake activities and implement strategies to improve access to undergraduate courses for these groups, as well as improving the retention and completion rates of those students.

The resource scheme will open for applications throughout the academic year in accordance with the eligibility and selection criteria.

The value per student of the resource scheme will be distributed on an as needs basis in line with the student's course requirements.

Applicants must:

  • be incarcerated at the time of request
  • be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
  • be commencing or continuing their studies at UniSQ in an undergraduate program in the relevant study period
    • continuing students - must have achieved satisfactory academic standing (GPA of at least 4.0)
  • be enrolled in an undergraduate program (students enrolled in UniSQ Ready or post-graduate programs are not eligible)
  • be requesting the required text for an offline course in which they are actively enrolled for the current or next available study period.

Correctional Centre Endorsement section on the application must be completed, together with the "Limited Resources Support Consent Form" or "Student Authority to Act Form".  These forms and further information on supporting incarcerated students is available on the website.

Applications may be submitted when requesting enrolment, but will only be processed once enrolment is confirmed.
