  • Explore how Australian Indigenous cultures have shaped and influenced Australia.
  • The First Nations Australia major within the Bachelor of Arts allows you to study the historical events and political policies that have shaped Australia’s relationship with its first peoples. 
  • Develop cultural competence and an understanding of First Nations perspectives, how to be an effective advocate or ally, and build the ability to work with Indigenous communities in a culturally appropriate way.
  • You can choose to combine your studies with a major in Environment and Sustainability, History, Music, or Anthropology to tailor this degree to suit your career goals.

Entry requirements

Pre-requisites

To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

  • English (Units 3 & 4, C)

English language requirements

You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests.

If you don't meet the English language requirements, you can apply to study UniSQ's UniReady courses TPP0122 and TPP0123, or the English for Academic Purposes EAP2 pathway program through the Union Institute of Language (UIL).

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
