Overview

  • Do you have an interest in science but didn’t complete Year 12 or are new to study? Designed to give you an introduction to the scientific environment, UniSQ’s Diploma of Multidisciplinary Studies is the perfect start to university studies.
  • This diploma provides the opportunity to sample four courses from a number of science areas including psychology, computing, astronomy, biology and maths to progress your career.

Further study

As a graduate, you will be eligible to apply for direct entry into a range of UniSQ undergraduate degrees including the Bachelor of Science or the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies. If you choose to go on to further studies the science subjects that you choose could also count as credit toward your undergraduate degree.

Career outcomes

  • With general science knowledge to prepare you for a career in science, you may find work as a laboratory assistant, research assistant, case supervisor assistant, child care worker, counsellor, human resources assistant, health & promotion officer, therapy aide, environmental health assistant and technical officer.

  • 18 years or older

English language requirements

You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 5.5 with a minimum 5.0 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests, or you can apply to study the English for Academic Purposes EAP1 pathway program through the Union Institute of Language (UIL) to meet the English language requirements.

Degree structure

To complete this degree students must complete 8 units. Most courses (similar to ‘subjects’) are valued at 1 unit. To study full-time you would usually complete 4 units per study period.

Once accepted into the Diploma, you will need to complete online diagnostic tests in mathematics, e-literacy, and English communication skills to assist staff in determining your level of reading comprehension, written expression, and mathematical understanding.
