  • The Graduate Certificate of Sport and Exercise is an excellent opportunity for those already working within the health, sport and exercise industry to advance their career, use it as a pathway to further learning, or as a start to a career in this exciting and fast-paced industry.
  • During your degree, studies will cover aspects of sport and exercise science including exercise prescription, and programming and delivery.

Career outcomes

  • As a graduate of the Graduate Certificate of Sport and Exercise you can expect to find employment in areas such as health and physical activity promotion, as a sports coach, gym manager, recreation officer, personal trainer, sports development officer, or work within sports tourism, community sport and recreation, and promotion of sport performance among athletes.
  • This degree also prepares you for career advancement if you are already working within the industry.

Entry requirements 

  • Completion of a 3-year bachelor degree, or equivalent qualification, in any discipline.
    or
  • Minimum of 5 years professional work experience equivalent to a bachelor degree qualification (AQF level 7).

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

Professional experience

As part of the degree, you will need to complete professional experience placements. These experiences provide you with opportunities to put theory into practice.

All students must be able to meet the physical and other professional requirements of professional practice within this degree.

Residential schools

All students will have the opportunity to come on-campus for residential schools, where you will attend face-to-face lectures and tutorials to gain practical experience, use facilities and specialist equipment, and meet staff and other students.
