From funding to facilitating: a guide for project leaders

Overview

Master the art of unpacking complex information to produce meaningful and practical outcomes. This workshop will give you the skills to address issues and produce robust recommendations for executives. Learn how to run information sessions that centre around inclusion and collaboration to produce outcomes that reflect the priorities of stakeholders. Gain hands-on experience in facilitating focus groups, conducting interviews, and completing project analysis and grant writing. This workshop is designed to help any organisation and uses tools that aren’t resource or technology intensive. It will benefit program or project designers of any kind and is particularly ideal for those who have recently received funding and want guidance on the next steps.

Workshop facilitators

Professor Lyn Alderman, Dean, Academic TransformationProfessor Lyn Alderman

With over thirty-five years of experience, Professor Lyn Alderman has established herself as a renowned expert in higher education. During her career she has served as the Chief Evaluator for the Department of Social Services where she was instrumental in establishing the evaluation offer for the Community Grants Hub. Lyn has also been the President of the Australian Evaluation Society and is recognised as an international evaluation expert. Previously Lyn ran her own consultancy business as an evaluator, working with not-for-profits and government departments. She has experience in drafting budgets across all areas of the Commonwealth including aged care, veterans, cabinet, finance and assets, and has also been at the forefront of addressing national issues such as food security. 

Dr Benjamin Harris, Manager, Evaluation MethodologiesDr Benjamin Harris

Dr Benjamin Harris has extensive experience conducting interviews and focus groups and is an expert in utilising the insights gained to make meaningful contributions to project work. Having led the Evaluation Methodologies team at UniSQ for the past two years, Benjamin has been instrumental in developing a variety of innovative evaluation methodologies for higher education. He brings informed context to evaluation having completed his doctoral thesis in international relations and terrorism studies. In his current role, Benjamin runs the graduate program and supports research students as they enter into academia.
