Professional Conversations - Mentoring

Helping others navigate the leadership journey

Mentoring assists leaders in their ability to manage better.

This course will introduce you to the mentoring skills needed to support others in building capacity and confidence. You will learn how to plan, implement and evaluate mentoring conversations within your professional context. You will also gain an understanding of the benefits, limitations, barriers and risks for successful mentoring conversations. This course has a four-week teaching period requiring a total of approximately 40 hours of learning. All course learning materials are available on demand.

By the end of the course, you'll be able to:

  • Make contextually appropriate plans and decisions to effectively implement mentoring conversations.
  • Apply mentoring knowledge and skills to plan, implement and evaluate micro conversations within your workplace.

Assessment

To be eligible for a digital badge for this course, you will need to successfully complete an assessment which includes:

  • A mentoring plan
  • Conducting a mentoring session
  • Writing a critical analysis
  • This optional assessment is due at the beginning of week 7

  • This level for this microcredential is Proficient.
    The material for this course has been designed for students who have already demonstrated a high level of skill in the subject matter. Students must have relevant experience and/or have studied the course material before (at competent level).
