UniSQ Aviation student Ethan Purdon says receiving the Chancellor's Scholarship was a major factor as to why he chose to study at UniSQ.
The Tamborine Mountain State High School OP2 student and aspiring pilot was the recipient of a UniSQ Chancellor’s Scholarship, valued up to $29,000.
Ethan said the funding would help make it easier for him to settle in to campus life at Springfield.
'Receiving the Chancellor’s Scholarship was an awesome surprise and a major factor as to why I chose UniSQ,' he said.
While he has been obsessed with planes and flying since he was a boy, he said going to university to study aviation wasn’t on the cards until last year.
'I was determined to head down the aviation path, and after doing some research and reaching out to people for advice, I knew the best thing for me was to get a degree,' he said.
'UniSQ is one of only a couple of unis that teach aviation in Queensland, so I’m very fortunate I don’t have to move far from home to study what I love.'
Ethan said becoming a commercial pilot would be a huge thrill, but he would also jump at the chance to fly for a regional airline and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
