As an engineering technologist specialising in geotechnics and mine waste engineering, Jodie has spent the last decade tackling technical challenges and leading teams across Australia. From managing water resources to overseeing dam infrastructure, Jodie has been at the forefront of ensuring safety and efficiency in her field.
Not wanting to stop there, she decided to enrol in UniSQ's Master of Engineering Practice, specialising in civil engineering. With the goal of advancing from an Engineering Technologist to a Professional Engineer in her sight, she wants to open up more opportunities in her engineering career.
“Engineering is a dynamic career pathway, which is continuing to evolve as new technologies become available."Jodie chose UniSQ for its flexible and industry-relevant degrees. The Master of Engineering Practice stood out to her because it allowed her to continue working while studying. This balance was important to Jodie, who was already making significant strides in her career. In 2023, she was honored with the National Emerging Technologist of the Year Award by Engineers Australia, a testament to her dedication and hard work.
The support and education Jodie received from UniSQ have been a key factor to her success. She believes that the Master of Engineering Practice provides an opportunity to address the national skills shortage in engineering. The degree equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to innovate and drive the industry forward.
Jodie is passionate about being a role model for rural and remote professionals, as well as women in engineering and we can't wait to see where her postgraduate degree will take her!
