UniSQ's Bachelor of Surveying (Honours) student, Kyran, took the spotlight by winning the national undergraduate student award at the Geospatial Excellence Awards for 2023/2024.

Kyran's award-winning project focused on measuring erosion using satellite remote sensing and Synthetic Aperture Radar images. His innovative approach was even published in the top-tier journal Remote Sensing—a big achievement for an undergraduate student!

The Geospatial Excellence Awards celebrate the best in the geospatial industry. Kyran's supervisor, Dr. Armin Agha Karimi said this research shows great promise for the future of geospatial science. His project demonstrated a feasible system for real-time erosion analysis in arid regions, combining satellite data with fieldwork.

“Kyran’s talent, dedication and innovation throughout this project shows he will be a leader in the geospatial industry.”
Kyran's journey is a fantastic example of how innovative thinking can tackle environmental challenges. As he continues his studies at UniSQ, we can't wait to see what he achieves next!
