Fees and scholarships
The cost of Residential Colleges accommodation varies depending on the room type and catering/self-catering option students choose. You can find a full schedule of fees on our website.
At UniSQ Residential Colleges, accommodation agreements are based on your study period length (i.e. Trimester or Semester based).
You don't have to worry about accommodation fees during study breaks if you choose to vacate, and if your course requires you to go away for practical experience we can reduce your rent for the time you're gone. Please note that flexible learning periods form part of the Accommodation Agreement Term.
Included in your accommodation fees:
- furnished single room
- unlimited internet service
- 24-hour security service
- cleaning of bathroom and common areas
- utilities (electricity, gas, water and air-conditioning)
- college car parking
- access to recreation facilities.
As part of the application process each study period, students are required to pay an Acceptance Deposit to secure their place at Residential Colleges, which is the equivalent of the first 28 nights of fees. This deposit is a board in advance payment and is not returned like a bond.
If students are not enrolled in any courses, are not accepted into the University or their circumstances change prior to the agreement start date, the acceptance deposit is fully refundable. In this event, students need to confirm via an email to accommodation@unisq.edu.au at least two weeks prior to the agreement start date that they would like to cancel the agreement and request a refund. The refund process will then take 10-14 business days to finalise from when the refund request is submitted.
If students don’t indicate their intent to cancel in writing by this time (two weeks prior to the agreement start date), and then cancel their accommodation prior to the commencement of their agreement, they will be charged the equivalent of four weeks of your accommodation fees. In line with our Accommodation Agreement, this will be for a two-week non-notice administration fee and a two-week Administrative Cancellation Fee. For more information regarding cancelling agreements, please refer to the Accommodation Agreement.
All rooms are single bedroom with access to self-cater kitchen facilities and varying bathroom sharing options.

Normally there are three different booking options available for the study break periods:
- Residents can remain in room for the entire period and pay the weekly fees.
- Residents can go ‘room only’. This means that they can vacate by returning their keys though keep all belongings in their room whilst they’re off campus and pay a reduced weekly rate.
- Residents can fully vacate by removing all belongings from their room and not pay any fees at all during the Study Break (free storage available).
Students will be able to select their booking option through the Res Portal before the study break. If residents do not select an option by the set due date, it will be assumed that they are vacating for the study break.
Residents can apply for fee reductions through the Res Portal, including for university practical placements. Fee reduction processes are outlined in paragraph 4.5 of the Accommodation Agreement with residents able to apply for periods greater than seven (7) days, in the following circumstances:
- to participate in authorised University academic programs;
- for medical reasons; or
- in such other extenuating circumstances as may be approved by the Director.
A fee reduction will reduce your weekly rent to $140 per week.
Fees are charged on a fortnightly basis and can be paid up to one study period or year in advance. To request an advanced credit calculation, please contact our team via accommodation@unisq.edu.au.
There are a variety of payment methods available for students who live on campus including:
- Res Portal
- BPAY
- direct transfer of funds
- centrelink and other third party payments
- phone
- cheque, money order or international bank draft
- in person.
