Graduart
Curators: Dr Rhiannan Johnson and Brodie Taylor
This much anticipated, annual exhibition showcases the cumulative ideas and creative works generated by the graduating cohort of 2023. Each student has undergone a period of immense discovery and growth in a time of constant change and societal flux.
As visual artists and creative individuals we assume the roles of observers, innovators, storytellers, critics, advocates, instigators, and questioners. Visual artists are uniquely positioned to interrogate both past and contemporary ideas and are able to engage and connect people by communicating in ways other than written or spoken language.
Working with a range of traditional and experimental techniques inclusive of painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, video art, photography, and mixed media practice, our artists have staged dialogues about place, culture, society, individual and collective identity, and human experience, and memory.
Collectively, the artists in this exhibition give voice to what it means to exist in this time and place, and in doing so, they can create a new lens through which we can share and experience this.
