How to apply

Once you know where you want to study, make sure you check the relevant application due dates:

  • Trimester 1 and 2: Complete applications are to be received by 31 August.
  • Trimester 3: Complete applications are to be received by 14 February.

Note: Some institutions have earlier deadlines or require longer visa application timeframes.

Consult your UniSQ degree enrolment plan and locate the course catalogue for your chosen host university. Please direct enquiries about your enrolment plan to your faculty by emailing support@unisq.edu.au.

Make a list of possible courses. It is recommended you select elective courses for your study. If this is not possible, please match courses that will align to the course requirements of your UniSQ degree.

Note: Courses starting with 1000 are usually first year courses. Courses starting with 2000 or 3000 are usually second and third year courses, respectively. Some courses will have pre-requisites. Students are required to choose about six to eight courses per semester to get them assessed by their program coordinator.

If you are applying for the ISEP program you will need to choose courses from more than one university as you may not be placed at your first choice.

Download the detailed outlines for your chosen courses from your preferred host university website. Submit the course outlines to your UniSQ program coordinator for approval.

Note: If one (or more) the full course syllabus is unavailable from your chosen host university’s website, please provide the Mobility Team with a list of the courses you wish to take.

Consider the required documentation that you will need to support your application.

  • Acquire a reference letter from your lecturer or tutor.
  • Complete a Statement of Purpose outlining the reasons why you wish to study abroad, objectives for the experience, and how these will influence your future personal and professional goals.
  • Obtain and provide an up-to-date official academic transcript.

Your application will be assessed and an outcome sent to you.

If successful, your exchange nomination will be forwarded to the host university. The host university will contact you for further information and application steps.

Once approved, you will receive a Letter of Offer. When you receive a Letter of Offer, it is your responsibility to complete all the necessary forms, organise your accommodation and apply for your visa.

Enrolment

For exchange programs: You must remain enrolled at UniSQ during your time overseas. The Mobility Team will enrol you into courses at UniSQ so that your tuition fees are charged and deferred to your HELP loan (if applicable).

For Study Abroad programs: You must take a leave of absence from your UniSQ studies while overseas and pay tuition fees directly to your host university.

Visa requirements

To study overseas, most countries require students to have a student visa. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade provides links to all foreign embassies and consulates in Australia. You should contact the relevant embassy or consulate for details.
