Clem Jones AO and Geoff Wright significantly shaped the landscape of our communities with their visionary surveying work building a better future for us all.

Now, the University of Southern Queensland is honouring the surveying pioneers, offering a scholarship to support a student commencing their studies in the Bachelor of Surveying Technology or Bachelor of Surveying (Honours).

Surveying student Nicholas Bond said he was thrilled to receive the inaugural scholarship last year.

“I would like to thank the donors for this scholarship as it has gone towards helping me pay for the degree and reduce the stress of work and university,” Mr Bond said.

“My goal is to become a Registered Surveyor and after that potentially a Cadastral Surveyor as the company I work for does work for new estates registering the titles.”

The Scholarship was established in 2022 through founding gifts from the Clem Jones Foundation, the Institute of Surveyors Australia (Qld) Bicentennial Education Fund, and Springfield City Group.

Chairman of Springfield City Group Maha Sinnathamby AM said his company was proud to support the scholarship.

“Education is a currency that can be taken anywhere in the world and this scholarship provides a valuable opportunity for a young Australian to take their next step,” Mr Sinnathamby said.

"Springfield city was created to enhance human and social capital. We value the presence and work of the many educational institutions in our city, including UniSQ, which shares Springfield City Group’s passion for learning."

The 2025 Clem Jones and Geoff Wright Scholarship is now open for applications and will close on Monday 18 November 2024.
