What will I learn in a Bachelor of Theatre degree?

What you will learn during your Bachelor of Theatre degree will vary depending on the major you choose. All UniSQ theatre students will explore how to create and use live and digital performance and advance analytical techniques to enhance and develop new works. Gain an in-depth understanding of core skills including:

  • persuasive communication
  • creative and critical thinking
  • cultural responsibility and creative communities
  • making and managing your arts career.

The Bachelor of Theatre major that’s right for you will vary depending on your interests and goals. At UniSQ we have two different majors to choose from.

Acting - Learn how to become a flexible, collaborative, innovative and entrepreneurial actor, preparing you for a variety of career paths. You’ll benefit from on-campus residential school courses to help hone your craft with other UniSQ acting students.

Theatre Making - Discover how to make new dramatic works for entertainment, community arts, education, health and environmental agencies.

Continue to enhance your theatre skills and knowledge and use your Bachelor of Theatre as a stepping-stone to further studies, such as our Bachelor of Creative Arts (Honours).

How long does a Bachelor of Theatre take?
The duration of a Bachelor of Theatre may vary depending on the education provider you choose to study with.  At UniSQ, an undergraduate Visual and Performing Arts degree, such as the Bachelor of Theatre usually takes 3 years of full-time study. Some students choose to study part-time which increases the time it takes to complete the required courses.

Is there an entry pathway if I don’t meet the entry requirements?

University pathway programs provide students with an entry point to their chosen uni degree without an ATAR score. At UniSQ our pathways accommodate different students’ needs, whether you haven’t study for some time, have completed a TAFE or VET qualification, have not completed high school or your goals have change.
