Emma Zillmann’s greatest challenge was moving away from home after high school. Calling small town Biloela home, she moved 600 kilometres away to pursue her dream of studying teaching while living at UniSQ’s Residential Colleges. The first in her family to study at university, it was an unfamiliar situation for Emma. However, she found comfort from the support of her peers and staff at UniSQ.
‘I was still finding my feet after school and wanted to have the full university experience. UniSQ allowed me to feel part of a community. They understand everyone is different and you’re not just a number.’
Emma is studying a Bachelor of Education (Secondary), choosing from 20 different teaching areas to focus on Drama.
‘Drama is my passion but the theatre industry was not for me. As a teacher I still get to be in touch with what I love. It’s amazing to see the difference I’ve made in students’ lives. It makes it all worthwhile.’
