Shaping the minds of the future

Liv Wright, a passionate sailor from the Gold Coast, is setting a new course to become a primary school teacher with the help of UniSQ.

Liv has found her Bachelor of Education Primary experience to be incredibly rewarding. She completed her first practical placement at Glenvale State School, teaching Year 3 students, and was thrilled to see the difference she could make in their lives, whether it was helping them with math or teaching them to hoist a sail.

From Bass Strait to the Torres Strait, the University of Southern Queensland’s pre-service teachers are spoiled for choice with more than 800 placement partners available across the country.

UniSQ has been supporting Liv every step of the way. We offer interest-free loans for placement-related costs and numerous scholarship opportunities, making it easier for students to focus on their studies and gain real-world experience. Teach Queensland also offers a number of opportunities, including programs, scholarships and grants to help you begin your teaching journey and provide support for new and returning teachers.

“With Australia facing an unprecedented teacher shortage, particularly in regional and remote schools, there has never been a more important time to take up the profession,” Liv said.

Liv encourages anyone considering a career in teaching to explore all their options options. UniSQ offer opportunities that shouldn't be missed. Teaching has proven to be a rewarding career for her, and every day, she leaves knowing she has made a difference.
