Julie completed a Doctor of Philosophy at UniSQ with her thesis topic, 'Online global collaborative educators and pedagogical change'. After an extensive study and professional career in areas from the Arts to Education, Julie decided to broaden her horizons with doctorate research.
Prior to her PhD study at UniSQ, Julie taught in schools in Zambia, Kuwait, Bangladesh, Qatar and China. She worked as a computer teacher, IT director and e-learning coordinator, helping to embed
technology into teaching and learning across the school curriculum.
As Julie continued to implement new pedagogical approaches in the classroom, she founded her own consultancy – Flat Connections – which fosters global projects and online global collaborative learning in schools across the world. Julie has written two books around her PhD thesis topic, and hopes to continue to make a global difference in education.
'Whatever I do has to be globally focused, collaborative and include online learning modes. I want to feel inspired and excited about my work and my life every day.'
