Working with employers

The Industry Connect Mentoring Program allows students to connect with industry professionals to help them prepare for their transition from university into professional employment. This program aims to enhance each student’s knowledge, understanding and professional networks, and provides mentors with the opportunity to meet, grow, and learn from upcoming talent in the industry.

The Career Mentoring Program is open to all study disciplines and programs. Students are able to connect with a mentor through a one-off meeting or for an ongoing connection.

UniSQ’s industry experience programs provide many benefits to both students and organisations alike. Our UniSQ Career Education Team manage the formalities of student placement within your organisation and our contract of insurance indemnifies the student and the Industry Experience provider against liability for personal injury or property damage suffered by the student, the Industry Experience provider or another person arising out of the work experience.

The Industry Experience Program

The Industry Experience Program assists students to develop employability skills and an understanding of the expectations within the role they are studying towards. This practical learning-based program allows an organisation to host a student for unpaid industry experience for up to 30 days over a designated period of time. It’s a great way to support emerging professionals and find like-minded, motivated and driven students.

Work Integrated Learning Program

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is a compulsory component of a student’s course in selected disciplines. It provides a wide range of learning experiences undertaken by students to better prepare them for future employment. The work placement component allows students to work with a dedicated professional who can coach, mentor and supervise this important aspect of the student learning journey.

UniSQ frequently hosts a range of panels, presentations, workshops and partnership events, allowing employers to network with our student talent. These events enable organisations to promote career and graduate opportunities, support students in their transition to employment, showcase projects and achievements and improve the quality of future job candidates by communicating skill expectation.

UniSQ CareerHub is a free online job board available to UniSQ students and graduates. Employers can advertise volunteer, job and graduate positions and reach over 28 000 registered students.

UniSQ provides the opportunity for employers to conduct their preliminary interviews with our students on-campus. We can assist by providing various sized interview locations and scheduling interviews. Due to heavy demand during some periods, we advise booking interview rooms early.

In partnership with other Australian and New Zealand Universities, UniSQ offers past and current students access to digital versions of their transcripts, AHEGS and testamurs through My eQuals. This service provides employers the benefit of access to a secure centralised repository of credible candidate credentials. It also increases the efficiency of verifying and interpreting documents.

UniSQ Access

UniSQ Access is an online employment service, providing students with 24-hour access to job opportunities, online bookings, resources and support.
