Overview

  • Extend and deepen your skills and knowledge of creative writing through Honours.
  • During your Honours year you will write a substantial creative work, such as a novella or a suite of poems or short stories, with the support of a dedicated supervisor.
  • You will also write a critical essay interrogating an aspect of creative writing practice linked to your creative work.
  • Deepen and expand your skills as a creative writer, and prepare for further study in a postgraduate research degree such as the Master of Research or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Successful completion of the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Honours) will qualify you to apply for the Master of Research or the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Entry requirements 

  • Completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Arts or a related discipline, with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0.

English language requirements

You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests.

If you don't meet the English language requirements, you can apply to study UniSQ's UniReady courses TPP0122 and TPP0123, or the English for Academic Purposes EAP2 pathway program through the Union Institute of Language (UIL).

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
