  • Extend your passion: Honours is a specialised year of study for students who have achieved a high standard in undergraduate studies. 
  • A BA honours degree enables you to specialise in a study area of your choice, while developing a capacity for advanced research at a higher academic level.
  • You will learn to prepare a supervised research thesis which builds a foundation for further study into the Master of Research or a PhD, and enhance your personal, cultural, creative and intellectual skills in analysis and communication to give you an edge in a competitive job market.

Entry requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern Queensland or other equivalent bachelor's degree with a major relevant to the discipline stream from a recognised university, with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0. 
  • Before applying, intending students are advised to contact a potential supervisor for consideration of the application and research topics.  

English language requirements

You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests.

If you don't meet the English language requirements, you can apply to study with our English language partner, the Union Institute of Language (UIL), or if you're a domestic student you can apply to study UniSQ Ready courses TPP0122 and TPP0123.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
