Overview

  • The Graduate Certificate of Information Systems allows you to critically examine business and IT-related problems and work to evaluate, generate, and implement suitable innovative, sustainable solutions using contemporary digital technologies.
  • Learn to apply practical knowledge of core information systems concepts and managerial aspects for navigating digital transformation initiatives in the contemporary digital era.
  • You will have the opportunity to explore digital assets, data management, IS/ICT project management frameworks, and cyber security architecture in this Information Systems degree to create successful IT results for not-for-profit to small-and-medium sized enterprises and enterprise-level public and private organisations.
  • Completing the Graduate Certificate can be a stepping stone to an information systems masters program, such as the UniSQ Master of Information Systems where you can further advance your skills and become professionally accredited by the Australian Computer Society.
  • Space out your study around work or life commitments by taking one course in each study period (part-time study) or finish your graduate certificate in 6 months of full-time study. 

Further study

After completing this degree, you can go on to study the Graduate Diploma of Information Systems or may be eligible to enter into the Master of Information Systems which is accredited at professional level by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and, through the Seoul Accord which is recognised in other countries.

Graduates can explore various career paths in the tech industry depending on interests, such as business or systems analyst, cyber security analyst, data or network administrator, IT consultant, software, or web developer to name a few.

Entry requirements

  • An Australian university bachelor's degree, or equivalent

OR

  • equivalent minimum of 3 years’ professional work experience (at AQF level 7). 

For candidates without an acceptable bachelor degree, or equivalent, and who have completed a minimum of three years' professional work experience, UniSQ’s Graduate Certificate of Information Systems provides an articulation pathway into the Graduate Diploma of Information Systems or the Master of Information Systems upon completion and achievement of a minimum GPA of 4.0.

English language requirements

To meet the English language requirements for this degree, we accept the combined level and duration of study specified below, or the minimum English language proficiency scores from one of the following tests. Your test must be completed within two years of applying to UniSQ.

Tertiary study
(Diploma level or higher)
1+ years full-time tertiary study in a country from the Accepted English-speaking countries list.
IELTS (Academic)  Minimum overall score of 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subscore (speaking, listening, writing, reading). 
Pearson Test of English Minimum overall score of 50 with a minimum of 50 in each subscore.
TOEFL iBT Minimum overall score of 80 with a minimum of 19 in each subscore.

If you do not meet the English language requirements, you can apply to study with our English language partner, the Union Institute of Language (UIL).

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
