Professional accreditation

The Master of Information Systems is accredited at professional level by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and, through the Seoul Accord, which is recognised in other countries. The Seoul Accord is a multi-lateral agreement that allows ACS accreditation to be recognised globally. This means when you graduate, your degree will be recognised by other countries who are members of the Accord.

Career outcomes

  • Graduates can find jobs as a business data analyst, data-driven decision makers, operations analyst, market research analyst, supply chain analyst, marketing analyst, data and insight manager, business intelligence manager, or business development manager, and may use their data management skills to solve problems for marketing, product development, finance, engineering, or in customer service areas. The responsibilities of these roles include but not limited to business intelligence, data visualisation, data management, data modelling, and design.

Entry requirements

  • An Australian university bachelor's degree, or equivalent
    OR
  • equivalent minimum of 3 years’ professional work experience (at AQF level 7). 

Applicants without an acceptable bachelor degree, or equivalent, and who have completed a minimum of three years' professional work experience, UniSQ’s Graduate Certificate of Information Systems provides an articulation pathway into the Master of Information Systems upon completion and achievement of a minimum GPA of 4.0.

English language requirements

To meet the English language requirements for this degree, we accept the combined level and duration of study specified below, or the minimum English language proficiency scores from one of the following tests. Your test must be completed within two years of applying to UniSQ.

Tertiary study
(Diploma level or higher)
1+ years full-time tertiary study in a country from the Accepted English-speaking countries list.
IELTS (Academic)  Minimum overall score of 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subscore (speaking, listening, writing, reading). 
Pearson Test of English Minimum overall score of 50 with a minimum of 50 in each subscore.
TOEFL iBT Minimum overall score of 80 with a minimum of 19 in each subscore.

If you do not meet the English language requirements, you can apply to study the English for Academic Purposes EAP2 pathway program through the Union Institute of Language (UIL).

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

To complete this degree students must complete 16 units. Most courses (similar to ‘subjects’) are valued at 1 unit. To study full-time you would usually complete 4 units per study period.
