Online study support and consultations

UniSQ Library offers support for current students to develop their study and research skillsets at all levels of study. You can book an individual consultation with our Librarians or Learning advisors for yourself or a small group (up to 5 students) and attend a wide range of Academic Success Webinars throughout the year. 

Higher degree by research (HDR) students should refer to our HDR and Researcher consultation booking page to request appointments relative to their level of study. 

Please note: The Library is not able to provide proofreading, editing, or personal counselling. Counselling can be accessed via the UniSQ counselling service.

Librarians are information specialists who can support study and research by:

  • Assisting you to find and evaluate specialist information for your discipline including books, academic journal articles, databases and more
  • Guiding you through correct referencing techniques (APA, Harvard & AGLC). 

Specialist Librarians provide information support in the main disciplinary areas of: Education; Engineering, Sciences & IT; Business; Law & Justice; Health & Communities; and UniSQ College, College for First Nations & the Arts.

Appointments with Librarians are offered via Zoom, phone, or email.

UniSQ offers discipline specific, First Nations, and mathematics Learning Advisors to support study success through the development of critical study skills.

Bookings to speak or meet with our Learning Advisors can be made through UniSQ Access (UniSQ log in required).

Learning Advisors (Discipline specific)

Learning Advisors assist students to develop critical study skills, including: 

  • unpacking assessment tasks and questions
  • goal setting, time management, & self-regulated learning 
  • communication & teamwork skills 
  • academic integrity
  • mathematics and statistics; and 
  • general learning and study strategies such as exam preparation and learning from lectures.

Learning Advisors provide learning support in five main discipline areas: Education; Engineering, Sciences & IT; Business & Commerce, Health & Communities; and UniSQ College, College for First Nations & the Arts.  

Learning Advisors (First Nations students)

First Nations Learning Advisors assist First Nations students to develop critical study skills, including: 

unpacking assessment tasks and questions
goal setting, time management, & self-regulated learning 
communication skills & teamwork skills academic integrity
mathematics and statistics; and 
general learning and study strategies such as exam preparation and learning from lectures.

Learning Advisors (Mathematics)

Maths Learning Advisors can assist with:

  • question analysis
  • pre-requisite knowledge
  • calculator use; and
  • arithmetic, algebra, calculus, graphing, statistics and trigonometry.

Learn new skills in our Study Support Sessions with our Library Study Support Teams. 

The sessions are run online in a group setting, and are open to all current UniSQ students. The sessions cover an advertised topic for 15 minutes, followed by 45 minutes dedicated to your questions on any library or study topic.

Current USQ Students can request one, free specialist appointment per week. 

Appointments are 30 minutes in length and can be made up to two weeks in advance.
