Overview

  • UniSQ’s construction major in the Diploma of Multidisciplinary Studies provides you with general knowledge of assignment writing to get you ready for university study as well as develop your understanding of construction management, engineering and the built environment.
  • You will strengthen your skills in problem solving and mathematics and also be provided the opportunity to delve deeper into methods, application and design to broaden your knowledge of construction work.

Further study

As a graduate, you will be eligible to apply for direct entry into select UniSQ undergraduate construction degrees including the Bachelor of Construction (Honours) or the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies. If you choose to go on to further studies some subjects that you choose could also count as credit toward your undergraduate degree.

Career outcomes

  • As a diploma graduate, you will be provided with general knowledge in preparation for a career in a number of areas within the construction industry.
  • Additional study within this field can further develop your skills and career opportunities.
  • Possible careers include construction supervisor, foreman, constriction supervisor, building supervisor, site supervisor, facilities supervisor.

English language requirements

You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 5.5 with a minimum 5.0 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests, or you can apply to study the English for Academic Purposes EAP1 pathway program through the Union Institute of Language (UIL) to meet the English language requirements.

Degree structure

To complete this degree students must complete 8 units. Most courses (similar to ‘subjects’) are valued at 1 unit. To study full-time you would usually complete 4 units per study period.

Once accepted into the Diploma, you will need to complete online diagnostic tests in mathematics, e-literacy, and English communication skills to assist staff in determining your level of reading comprehension, written expression, and mathematical understanding.
