Support for LGBTIQA+ Students

At UniSQ we encourage everyone to play an active role in creating a culture of respect and safety. Allyship at UniSQ

What is an Ally?
An ally does not need to identify within the LGBTIQA+ rainbow community, and there are multiple ways that allyship can be demonstrated. An LGBTIQA+ Ally acknowledges and actively responds to harassment, discrimination, marginalisation, and stigmatisation based on a persons’ gender, sexual orientation, or innate variation of sex characteristics. By supporting and advocating for the rights of individuals within the LGBTIQA+ community, Allies can contribute to a safe, inclusive, and affirming LGBTIQA+ space at UniSQ.

If you would like to know more about engaging in affirming, inclusive, and supportive LGBTIQA+ allyship, you can complete the Supporting LGBTIQA+ Inclusion, Why LGBTIQA+ Inclusion and Gender Diversity Modules. You are also invited to attend an upcoming interactive workshop where you can ask questions, practice new skills (i.e., sharing your pronoun), and share your experiences.
